AS SETTING: a major Cluniac site

The priory, founded in 1059 by the powerful order of Cluny, is the nucleus around which the city will develop. Spared from post-revolutionary destruction, it was restored in the 2000s. This major site of Burgundian Romanesque art is an unmissable place full of history.

Created in the middle of the 11th century, the Church of Notre-Dame du Prieuré de la Charité has been listed as a UNESCO world heritage site since 1998 as a major stopover on the paths to Santiago de Compostela.
