Lyme Bay sweeps round from the National Nature Reserve on the Dowlands Cliffs in an uninterrupted arc along the huge bank of shingle that is Chesil Beach, all the way to the limestone slab of the Isle of Portland.

The 626ft Golden Cap, a breath-taking viewpoint and part of a lovely 2,000-acre National Trust Estate, is the highest point on England’s south coast, and a World Heritage Site.

It is an easy drive to Bridport, Honiton, Sidmouth, Exeter and Dorchester, and for families, there are many lovely beaches close at hand, as well as Crealy Theme Park near Exeter.
