The Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail starts in the village and stretches right across the country to the east coast, and whilst guests may wish to walk the 73 miles to Wallsend, having a superb pub serving delicious fare at the very start may delay your departure! A wonderful way to explore the Solway Coast, an Area of Outstanding National Beauty and World Heritage Site, is by bicycle and although the Hadrian’s Cycleway also runs through the village, there are also numerous other circular routes on hand.

Wildlife lovers can embrace the local nature reserves with both Dumbrugh Moss and the South Solway Mosses close by, and positioned right on the edge of the estuary at this Bowness-on-Solway cottage, you are already in a renowned World Ramsar site for marine birds.
